Rather, the f ilmmakers d o the unt hinkable: they create a  genuine  atmosphere of u nimaginab le drea d and u nspeakable h orror, usin g shadow, sugg estion and ra re splashes of  that Nam eless colou r in a fe w select fr ames. In sho rt, they  did a da mn good jo b. Die Far be is subtl e in its mounting horr or, nu rturing a da rk dread deep  in your bowel s with  every shot.  All of the  best and most  stomach-t urningly di stressing films I’ve e ver seen  have come out  of Germany : M, The Cab inet Of Dr. C aligari,  The White R ibbon, an d now this one. It’s a  dark, noisome  little gem  that wil l squirm into y our subconsci ous and l ay its eggs  in your san ity.
